Russian Cheesecake

It’s Saturday!!! So Lesya, my host in Russia, has decided to make a cake that is traditional in Russia. I participate in the eating and asking: “What’s that in Russian?”. Oh and the eating! Here’s the recipe:

What you need:

  • 1kg Crumbly white cheese
  • 2 Eggs
  • 6 tbsp Sugar
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 6 tbsp Sour cream that isn’t too sour (I’m not sure there is an equivalent to this…)
  • 4 tbsp Manna (Also apparently only found in Russia)
  • 100 g Raisins

What you need to do:

  1. You mix it all together and put it in a mould whee the sides can be taken off once cooked.
  2. Put in an oven at 180C/350F for 30 to 40 minutes, or until (like other cakes) that stuff don’t stick to your knife!
  3. Top with icing sugar and some nuts, and you done!!!

Here are some pictures of it! Yay first recipe with pictures!!!

Also, I must say that after Lesya finished this cake, I had the best lunch ever!!!

Chicken cooked with onions and fennel in sour cream;

Along with mashed potatoes with an EGG (unless I have been ignorant to the use of an egg in mashed potatoes it made it absolutely delicious!!!), milk and butter;

As well as a salad!!! Now off to the French independence party!!!
